Rotary’s deputy general secretary named Nonprofit Person of the Year by the Evanston Chamber of Commerce

Rotary International Deputy General Secretary Michele A. Berg is being recognized for her service to the community that is home to Rotary’s world headquarters.

Berg, who is also president of the Rotary Club of Evanston, Illinois, USA, will be honored as Nonprofit Person of the Year at the Evanston Chamber of Commerce’s 99th Annual Celebration & Awards gala on 24 January 2019.

“Michele is an inspiration to the community, not only as a leader of the global service organization that calls Evanston home, but as president of the Evanston Rotary club and board member of the Evanston Community Foundation,” said Dave Stumpf, Rotary International’s director of auditing services and a board member of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.

Berg has brought positive and lasting change to Evanston and communities around the world for more than 20 years through her professional and personal affiliation with Rotary.

“From planting trees at Harbert Park (in Evanston) to traveling to Nairobi, (Kenya,) to honor Rotary’s six Young Innovators at Rotary Day at the United Nations, Michele is passionately engaged at every level of our organization,” Stumpf said.
